Help Desk (Q&A)
The dating game, what things should you look out for?
Oh, the wonderful world of dating! It's brings back so many memories. The trials and errors I had to go through. Maybe I can offer you a few tips that will help.
A good relationship is full of many things. Mostly, mutual trust, support, and equal responsibilities! The two of you should trust each other. If you're always worrying if the other is cheating on you, then there is no trust in the relationship. The two of you should support each other both physically, emotionally and spiritually! The two of you should also be responsible persons.
Let's touch a bit more on the subject of support. You've read above, that the two of you should support each other spiritually. Never date an unbeliever, under any circumstances! 2 Corinthians 6:14 reads Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?
When your dating someone ask yourself, "Is this someone I would want to spend the rest of my life with?" If not, don't waste anymore of your time or theirs. It could be very destructive for you to date an unbeliever. Your emotions(or the devil) could end up getting the best of you. Remember that God said to wait until marriage to have sex. Sex is a beautiful thing, but should be reserved for marriage. A lot is involved when you decide to become sexually active; pregnancy, disease, and death are all consequences. I urge you to resist temptation and save yourself until marriage! True love will always wait!
Helpful Tips:
1. Always date/marry fellow Christians.
2. Don't be embarrassed to ask your partner what their beliefs are upfront.
3. Get involved with your church's Single Ministries.
4. Worship together and attend church regularly with your mate.
5. Lift each other up, both spiritually and emotionally, as often as you can.
6. Hang around friends that are also Christians.
