Help Desk (Q&A)
How do I find a good church?
You know, I'll never forget when I moved from my little home town to the "Big City". I was scared. I didn't know anyone, I was 200 miles from my family, and I had no idea where I was going to go to Church at! We'll I struggled, moved from one church to the next looking for that one "special" church. You may not believe me but it took me over two years (ok-actually three) for me to finally find a church.
So by now your wondering what took so long, right? Well, you know, finding a new church is very hard. I mean your trying to find one that is a little like that one back home, a little like that one you saw on TV, one not too big, one not to small, maybe one with a big choir, and maybe one a little like your friends that you visited once. It's hard folks, trust me! It's a different experience for everyone.
So, let us move forward. One night a group from a church, that I hadn't visited yet, came and knocked on my door. They introduced themselves and invited me to come to their church Sunday. I took them up on their offer. And the rest is history my friends! I knew from day one this is what I had been looking for. They were large, but not so large that no one would know you. They had an excellent choir. The church had many activities and outreach ministries. They had wonderful Bible study teachers and a Great Pastor. Just the things I was looking for.
So, when it's your turn to find that new church ask God to help you first and then get out there and look folks!
Helpful Tips:
1. Know what you're looking for in a Church.
2. Always attend Sunday School, this is the perfect setting to meet people your age and in a much smaller setting.
3. If you can't make it to Sunday School (or are to shy), get to church 15 minutes early. I've found that this is a great way to meet some people in the church. If you get there right at the start of service, your rushing in. And, after the service, your rushing out and you never interact with anyone. It is very crucial to make friends at church, Sunday School is the best and easiest way I know to do this! see Romans 12:4-6
