How do I know I should marry this person?

Complete Listing of Topics/Questions

One could write on endless topics on the subject of Marriage. We'll just touch on a few things concerning marriage. In Genesis 2:18 you'll read The LORD God said, " It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a companion who will help him." Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reads Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one...If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. And Matthew 19:4-6 reads "Haven't you read the Scriptures?" Jesus replied. " They record that from the beginning 'God made them male and female.' And he said, 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' Since they are no longer two but one, let no on separate them, for God has joined them together." You see at best a marriage is when two can be as one! It takes mutual trust, support, and responsibilities to accomplish this! The two of you should trust each other, if you're always worrying if they're cheating on you then there is no trust in the relationship. The two of you should support each other both physically, emotionally and spiritually! The two of you should also share the responsibilities of the home.

Let's touch a bit more on the subject of support. You've read above, that the two of you should support each other spiritually. Never marry an unbeliever, under any circumstances! 2 Corinthians 6:14 reads Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness?

When your dating someone ask yourself, "Is this someone I would want to spend the rest of my life with?" It could be very destructive for you to even date an unbeliever. Your emotions(or the devil) could end up getting the best of you. One last note, never be so foolish to think you can change someone or that they will change after you marry them. Most likely, what you have NOW will be what you have twenty years from now!

Helpful Tips:

  1. Always date/marry fellow Christians.

  2. Don't be embarrassed to ask your partner what their beliefs are upfront.

  3. Get involved with your church's Single Ministries (if looking for a mate).

  4. Worship together and attend church regularly with your spouse.

  5. Talk with your Pastor if your having difficulties in your marriage.

  6. Lift each other up, both spiritually and emotionally, as often as you can.
