Today's opinion poll:

In your personal opinion, what do you understand it takes for a person to go to Heaven?

If you recently answered our Opinion poll or would just like the answer to this question then please read the following answer to the question, "What does it take for a person to go to Heaven?" to see how the Bible answers this question.

There is a word that can be used to answer this question and that word is F.A.I.T.H.
The F is for FORGIVENESS.
We cannot have eternal life and heaven without God's forgiveness.

"In Him [meaning Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins"-Ephesians 1:7a, NKJV.

A is for AVAILABLE.
Forgiveness is available. It is-
AVAILABLE FOR ALL

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life"-John 3:16, NKJV.

BUT FORGIVENESS IS NOT AUTOMATIC

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven"-Matthew 7:21a, NKJV.

I is for IMPOSSIBLE.
It is impossible for God to allow sin into heaven.
BECAUSE GOD IS-

  • LOVE
    John 3:16, NKJV.

  • JUST
"For judgment is without mercy"-James 2:13a, NKJV.

MAN IS SINFUL

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"-Romans 3:23, NKJV.

Question: But how can a sinful person enter heaven, where God allows no sin?

T is for TURN.
Question: If you were driving down the road and someone asked you to turn, what would he or she be asking you to do? (change direction)
Turn means repent.
TURN from something-sin and self

"But unless you repent you will all likewise perish"-Luke 13:3b, NKJV.

TURN to Someone; trust Christ only

(The Bible tells us that) "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures"-1 Corinthians 15:3b-4, NKJV.
"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"-Romans 10:9, NKJV.

H is for HEAVEN.
Heaven is eternal life.
There is two parts to Heaven.
HERE

"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly"-John 10:10b, NKJV.

HEREAFTER

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also"-John 14:3, NKJV.

So How can a person have God's forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior and Lord?

We've talked about how H stands for HEAVEN; it also can stand for HOW. Look at your own had. Remember how we just looked at the meanings of the word F.A.I.T.H. Another meaning of F.A.I.T.H. can be Forsaking All I Trust Him. And Him is Jesus.

If you would turn from your own way of trying to make life work and, in a way, reach out with your own hand of faith to Jesus you could find this same forgiveness, heaven and eternal life, and Jesus as personal Savior. You can know for certain that you are on the right road, and you can receive God's forgiveness, eternal life, and heaven. Remember what we said earlier: "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved".

Understanding what you've just read, would you like to receive this forgiveness by trusting in Christ as your personal Savior and Lord?

If YES, please pray this simple prayer:

Dear God, I know that I'm a sinner and in need of a Savior. I know that Jesus is your only begotten Son of a virgin birth. I know that the price of sin is death and Jesus paid this price for me. I know that He arose and is in heaven today.

I turn from my sinful ways and trust Jesus for my salvation. The best way I know how, I ask you Lord Jesus to come into my life and be my Savior. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

If you've prayed this prayer, please let us know. Please email us IGotSaved@whatagod.com. You will want to join a local church and read the Bible often to help you grow spiritually. Be sure to attend Sunday School and church regularly. May God bless you!
